Metabolism
Rocks
The Metabolism Rocks web site is coming soon, and will document ongoing research observations relating to the impact
of nutrition on human metabolic processes and communication of how well our
metabolisms can function in a variety of difference situations.
This web site seeks to make the raw data the main outcome of the
research process, by frequently publishing results from each test, and inviting
contributions to the interpretation of that data as well as allowing interested
collaborators to suggest changes or enhancements in the research
approach. This allows for a very agile research approach, that can adapt
and change as circumstances dictate.
Initial research will focus on running simple assays and hematology tests, using capillary blood, as often as is
required to track changes in the levels of various chemicals in the blood for a
subject on a Ketogenic Diet, after consuming various types of meals, and in
combination with various forms of Intermittent or time restricted Fasting.
For example, NEFA, Total Cholesterol, LDL and HDL Cholesterol,
Triglycerides, Apolipoprotein A1 & B, Glucose, Ketones, Potassium,
Chloride, Sodium and Magnesium, as well as basic haematology testing, will be
frequently measured, to track changes in those levels, in response to
consumption (or lack of consumption) of various food and beverage combinations
in the context of various Intermittent Fasting regimes. (e.g. early time
restricted fasting where dinner is skipped, late time restricted fasting, where
breakfast is skipped, 24 hour and possibly multi day fasting).
The research to be undertaken on Metabolism Rocks will focus on ‘high
frequency’ testing with the time between tests being in the order of minutes, as
opposed to traditional ‘point in time’ blood tests where the time between
tests is measured in months or years.
